If you’ve been dealing with the VA for a while, you know how complicated the claims process can be. Is your claim a legacy claim or AMA? What’s the deadline when you received that Supplemental Statement of the Case or Rating Decision; do you need to file for an increase on a form 20-526EZ or a higher-level review on 20-0996?
With some appeals you can include new evidence. Others are closed as of the date of the last decision. You have a year to appeal an initial decision, but only 120 days to appeal a Board of Veterans Appeals decision.
The good news is, all of this information is out there and available, both on YouTube, various Facebook groups, the web and in the thousands of pages of VA regulations. So it’s important to make an informed decision about whether you can do the research and prosecute your appeals yourself or engage the services of a claims agent or attorney.
